Alexandra (Dion) Kullack D.O. OSTEOPATH

Grad. Dip. (Osteo) Paeds Grad. Dip. Applied Psychology

My osteopathic practice includes the treatment of all ages, backgrounds and abilities . Working with pregnant women and the newborn infant has given me much joy over the years. I have recently returned to NZ from Melbourne where I had been directing a multidisciplinary clinic. During my 30 years+ in practice I have become aware of the important link between traumatic injuries and the mind-body connection. I currently practice is in Ostend, Waiheke Island, Auckland.

Biography

Originally from Germany, I moved to London in 1976 to work with children in the community, when I discovered osteopathy. I graduated as an osteopath from the European School of Osteopathy (UK) in 1985. Since then I have been involved in the teaching of osteopathy in the UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. I have contributed a chapter to the 'Handbook of Paediatric Osteopathy' published by Elsevier in English and German in 2004.

How can Osteopathy help ?

The Mind-Body Connection

Osteopathic treatment tries to relieve the physical strains associated with your pain and suffering. The aim is to reduce any undue strains, to improve tissue mobility and balance. Osteopaths thereby look at helping your body adapt and cope with the daily challenges of life.

It has been shown that osteopathic treatment can have a positive effect on the way we feel. In other words Osteopathy often improves both, our physical as well as our emotional sense of wellbeing.

Osteopathic Diagnosis and Treatment

Practitioners will assess your symptoms using their osteopathic manual expertise and anatomical knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of your condition. Osteopaths also use standard medical and orthopaedic screening tests in the assessment of your condition in order to know whether referral for medical assessment is required.

Conditions commonly seen in osteopathic practice:

  • Back pain, shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries

  • Foot and ankle injuries

  • Chronic stress and difficulties sleeping

  • Dysfunctional breathing

  • Migraines and Headaches

  • Occupational strains involving the head, neck, shoulder, elbow and hands

  • Congestive conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat and chest

  • Chronic pain associated with trauma

  • Pelvic congestion and constipation

  Wellness and Physical Health

" I view each person as unique and in need of a personalised approach to treatment. Everybody responds differently.

At times, lifestyle, nutrition and exercise are important in influencing my patient’s response to manual treatment. I frequently find anxiety and stress management to be a high priority .”
